You can make a real difference by volunteering at First Health Moore Regional Hospital

The Tin Whistles have a rich history of supporting the community through their service at First Health Moore Regional Hospital. Muhammad Ali once said “Service is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth”. There are several immediate needs for additional volunteer assistance. In addition to service as Golf Cart drivers, (especially now that we are serving both the Main entrance and the Reid/Outpatient Services areas) the following volunteer assignments have vacancies and are in critical need of volunteers:

  • CATSCAN/IMAGING RECEPTION: Volunteers greet and assist patients. Morning and Late weekday afternoon shifts are available, 8:30am to 7 pm.
  • DISCHARGE: Safely wheel discharged patients in wheelchairs from their hospital rooms to the main lobby or vehicle pickup area. Great walking/patient contact opportunity. Critical Need: Weekday shifts from 10:30am to 1:30pm, 12 to 3pm, or 1:30 to 4:30pm.
  • PATIENT REGISTRATION: Volunteers greet and transport patients admitting for outpatient and hospital services. This position involves walking, standing, and utilizing a wheelchair. Tuesdays 8am to 12pm and Thursdays 12 to 4pm.
  • INFUSION PATIENT ASSISTANT: Assist oncology nursing staff by providing support to, and interacting with, patients and families; able to transport patients via wheelchair, personal experience with cancer or caring for a cancer patient helpful but not required. Critical Need: Weekday shifts 8am-Noon or Noon-4pm.
  • SURGICAL WAITING: Surgical Waiting volunteers serve as a liaison between surgical services and visitors waiting for patients in surgery. This position involves telephone communication, interaction with families, and basic computer skills. Critical need: Weekday and evening shifts.
  • CANCER CENTER AMBASSADORS : Our volunteer Ambassadors greet patients and family and help them navigate the Center, via wheelchair transport or via other helpful guidance. They help foster a warm environment of care for those dealing with cancer. Weekday shifts: 8am-Noon or Noon to 4pm
